Georges River Council participated in the Get the Site Right blitz campaign on 27 August 2026. This was to ensure our local government area (LGA) is compliant with sediment and erosion control standards.
Council's Compliance Team inspected a total of 43 construction sites across the Georges River area.
Of the 43 sites inspected, 28 were found to have appropriate sediment and erosion controls in place, while 15 failed to meet the required standards and required either additional education or enforcement action. Consequently, 2 fines were issued for non-compliance, resulting in fines totalling $4,500.
Get the Site Right is a joint effort between:

Sydney Coastal Councils Group.

Water NSW.

NSW Environment Protection Authority (EPA).

Sydney councils, including Georges Riverkeeper member councils.
Together, these organisations uphold best-practice standards across residential, commercial, and major infrastructure projects. This helps safeguard our waterways and surrounding environments.
