Small- and medium-sized businesses represent the backbone of regional economies, generate good local jobs and are a source of pride for their communities. That is why the Government of Canada is investing to help the Cumberland Business Connector provide individualized development assistance to Cumberland County businesses.
Government of Canada investment to improve efficiency, productivity, profitability
Today, Lenore Zann, Member of Parliament for Cumberland - Colchester, announced a non-repayable contribution of $55,000 to the Cumberland Business Connector Society for an Accelerator Program that is providing one-on-one coaching and consultations to local businesses. The announcement was made on behalf of the Honourable Mélanie Joly, Minister of Economic Development and Official Languages and Minister responsible for ACOA.
This contribution is helping to provide hands-on support to businesses so they can access the programs and services they need to innovate, adopt new technologies, and pursue new avenues for expansion and market diversification. The Accelerator Program is preparing businesses in Cumberland County to compete and succeed in the global market.
The Cumberland Business Connector's Accelerator Program builds on a 2019 pilot project that helped six businesses complete a strategic review, identify and address gaps and opportunities, and scale up operations.
Today's announcement further demonstrates the Government of Canada's commitment to help businesses adapt to pandemic realities, improve efficiencies and foster growth.

Formed in 2016, the Cumberland Business Connector, is a business-led, not-for-profit organization that fosters a strong business environment by removing barriers and connecting businesses with the resources they need to be successful.

The Cumberland Business Connector's Accelerator Program began in January 2021 and includes the six businesses from its 2019 pilot project, as well as six additional businesses who are new to the program. More businesses will be accepted to the program in July 2021.
