Providing Mornington Peninsula locals with safer, faster commute

Liberal Party Victoria

A Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will deliver a $175 million upgrade of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway between Jetty Road and Boneo Road in Rosebud.

The upgrade will include:

  • duplication of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway between Jetty Road and Boneo Road,
  • a new freeway overpass at Jetty Road,
  • pedestrian safety improvements at Jetty Road,
  • an upgraded intersection for Boneo Road.

Locals have long called for a solution to the chronic congestion at the end of the Mornington Peninsula Freeway, which is at its worst during the summer peak.

This project will reduce congestion, improve travel times and reliability, and improve safety for all road users.

This project will be delivered in partnership with the Commonwealth Government who have previously committed $75 million towards the project.

Leader of the Liberal Party, Matt Guy, said this upgrade would mean better connections for locals who are facing increased travel times and congestion.

"This road is critically important for all locals, and it is important for us to invest in this area which has experienced significant population growth," Mr Guy said.

"Investing in this important project will mean a quicker and safer commute for families right across the Mornington Peninsula."

Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Dr Matt Bach, said Labor has been playing politics with infrastructure whilst much needed projects fall by the wayside.

"Despite years of letters and petitions from the local community, the Andrews Labor Government has dropped the ball on this vital upgrade."

"Only a Matt Guy Liberals and Nationals Government will ensure that all Victorians receive the infrastructure they need."

Liberal Candidate for Nepean, Sam Groth, said the Andrews Labor Government had ignored families on the Mornington Peninsula.
