PSPA declared, Newtown

Police have made an emergency declaration under the Public Safety Preservation Act (PSPA) due to an ongoing incident in Newtown, Toowoomba.

Police attended a Taylor Street address last night (March 2) at 9.45pm. Continuing searches of the property today resulted in hazardous chemicals being located resulting in an exclusion zone being declared, as a precaution.

The exclusion zone includes parts of Taylor, Boxsall, Hamilton and Nathan Street (pictured below).

Members of the public are advised to avoid the area.

Those within the exclusion zone are asked to remain indoors and limit movement until further notice. Residents may see police within the area conducting door knocks.
