Public appeal after sexual assault in Melbourne

Melbourne Sexual Offences and Child Abuse Investigation Team detectives are hoping to identify a man as part of their investigation into a sexual assault in the Melbourne CBD earlier this year.

The incident occurred on Elizabeth Street about 11.30pm on Wednesday 30 June.

Investigators have been told the victim was standing on the side of the road when a male walked past her and sexually assaulted her.

Following a thorough investigation, detectives have today released CCTV and images of a man who they believe can assist with their investigation.

The man is perceived to be southern european in appearance, approximately 60-years-old, with a medium build and grey hair.

He was wearing a black jacket with the Beauty and the Beast logo, a black KISS tee shirt, black pants and brown shoes.

Anyone who recognises the man or anyone with information is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential crime report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au
