MidCoast Council is inviting the community to a public meeting at the Manning Entertainment Centre to share what's underway to improve the use of the much-loved venue - and to gather ideas on other options and innovations to increase the Centre's financial sustainability.
The MEC plays an important role in the cultural life of the MidCoast, hosting live performances, community events, presentations and celebrations throughout the year.
MidCoast Council's General Manager, Adrian Panuccio, said the meeting is about sharing information with the community and hearing of other ideas that may support the work that is being undertaken on expanding the use and appeal of the centre.
"The MEC is a place people feel strongly about - and rightly so," Mr Panuccio said.
"We want to share what Council is doing to improve the way it is used and supported, and we also want to listen to the community about other options that could help strengthen its financial sustainability."
The meeting is being held following a Council resolution late last year asking for staff to hold a meeting for the community to 'look into options and new innovations to increase financial sustainability' at the MEC.
At the meeting Council staff will outline the work being progressed to improve the Centre's performance and use, and provide an opportunity for the community to share thoughts on additional opportunities to support the venue into the future.
The meeting will be held at the MEC from 6pm-7.30pm on Tuesday 24 March. For those interested in having a look through the facility beforehand, doors will be open from 5.30pm.
Council encourages people to attend and share ideas - whether they're regular patrons, event organisers, artists, community groups, businesses, or locals who simply want to see the Centre thrive.
