Public Input Sought on Child Abuse Prevention Plan

The Albanese Government has launched a consultation for Australians to share their views on how we can keep children and young people safe from sexual abuse and best support victims and survivors.

The consultation is designed to inform the development of the Second Action Plan under the National Strategy to Prevent and Respond to Child Sexual Abuse 2021-2030 .

The Second Action Plan will continue the ongoing work under the National Strategy and introduce new activities to better understand and address emerging issues.

Since the National Strategy was launched, the Government has invested over $340 million to respond to child sexual abuse. Whilst much has been achieved, there is more work to be done.

To help make it easier for hardworking frontline services and in recognition of people's experience of different forms of violence, we will be simultaneously consulting on the related action plans for:

We are designing these action plans to work together because we know people affected by violence often deal with many of these interconnected issues at the same time and people's lives do not fit neatly into plans or systems.

We have heard from many experts, advocates and other stakeholders on what needs to be included in the Second Action Plan. We recognise the importance of continuing to hear from individuals and communities across the nation to stop the cycle of abuse and help victims and survivors to heal.

All Australians are invited to participate in the survey via the Attorney-General's Department's consultation hub . The survey closes on Friday 17 July 2026.
