A Victoria Police public service employee has been charged following a Professional Standards Command investigation into misconduct.

The staff member, from Crime and Counter Terrorism Investigation Services, was initially suspended with pay on 6 August, 2025 but resigned under investigation on Friday, 21 November 2025.

The 57-year-old man has today been charged with

• Two counts of misconduct in public office,

• Four counts of access child abuse material,

• Six counts of possess child abuse material, and

• Eleven counts of fail to provide information under warrant.

He has been summonsed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court on 4 November.

The investigation, which was undertaken by Professional Standards Command in conjunction with the Cybercrime Squad, worked with the OPP and DPP to understand the impact of the ongoing enquiry on any current investigations or court matters.

Following the identification of a number of potentially affected matters, a formal review of the forensic data was conducted. This re-examination has been completed.

At this stage it is believed all issues have been identified and reviewed and impacted parties have been notified.

As the matter is now before the court it would be inappropriate to comment further.
