Purana Taskforce charge man with fraud offences

Detectives from the Purana Taskforce have charged a man after a search warrant was executed in Brunswick West yesterday.

Investigators arrested the 44-year-old and executed a search warrant at the Moreland Road address as part of their ongoing investigation into the murder of Richard Mladenich, drug trafficking, and alleged vehicle insurance fraud.

The Brunswick West man was charged with one count obtaining property by deception and will appear at Melbourne Magistrates' Court this morning.

In July this year Purana Taskforce detectives renewed their appeal for information in relation to the death of 37-year-old Mladenich, who was fatally shot at the Esquire Motel on Acland Street on 16 May, 2000.

A $1M reward remains on offer in relation to the murder.
