Victorians with accessibility requirements will have more support navigating the public transport network.
The Allan Labor Government is launching an Australian-first trial of GoodMaps at Bendigo, Geelong and Tarneit stations.
GoodMaps is a wayfinding app designed to help passengers move through stations more easily and independently.
The app provides audio assistance and visual directions to key facilities, including platforms, bathrooms, information counters and coach bays.
It's about making public transport easier to use for everyone.
Bendigo, Geelong and Tarneit were chosen because they are some of the busiest stations on the V/Line network, and the three-year trial will help V/Line test how new technology can improve accessibility across the network.
GoodMaps is already being used on public transport networks around the world, including Canada and the UK - and it is free to download on the App Store and Google Play.
Staff at participating stations will continue supporting passengers and providing assistance when needed.
The trial is part of V/Line's Accessibility Action Plan 2025-2028 and builds on broader work to improve accessibility across the network.
That includes more accessible VLocity trains, upgraded facilities for passengers travelling with mobility aids and support services through Travellers Aid.
Only Labor invests in making our public transport network easier, safer and more affordable.
