Qantas, PAL Add 15 Island Hopping Routes for Flyers

Qantas Frequent Flyers now have more ways to reach Southeast Asia and beyond in a new partnership with Philippine Airlines (PAL) launching today. Members can now book Classic Reward seats across the entire PAL network, offering greater access to North America, the Middle East and 15 new island destinations via Manila.

New data from the Philippine Department of Tourism shows a significant increase in Australians travelling to the Philippines, with Australian visitor arrivals up 19 per cent in the first quarter of 2026 compared to the same period last year.

Frequent Flyers can use their points to reach 15 island destinations, including the world-renowned beaches of Boracay, the diving capital of Cebu, and the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Palawan province.

Qantas Loyalty CEO Andrew Glance said the partnership responds to the growing island-hopping trend among members.

"Many of our members want their points to take them further than just the major hubs. Partnering with Philippine Airlines opens up more of Asia and adds 15 destinations previously missing from our partner network.

"From the world-class beaches of Boracay to the limestone lagoons of El Nido, these are destinations that feel like a true reward. Members can now build an entire island-hopping itinerary using points, connecting through Manila to some of the most remote and beautiful spots in Southeast Asia," said Mr Glance.

Philippine Airlines operates 22 weekly flights between Australia and Manila, including daily services from Sydney on Airbus A330 aircraft and from Brisbane on Airbus A321neoLR aircraft. Members can book Classic Reward seats in Business, Premium Economy, and Economy cabins across these routes.

Philippine Airlines President Richard Nuttall welcomed the partnership, saying it builds on the airline's long-standing ties with Australia.

"Loyalty partnerships are an important way we extend the reach of Mabuhay Miles and create more value for our members.

"Together with Qantas, we are strengthening our links with Australia, making it simpler for Australians to visit the Philippines while enjoying greater choice and flexibility with their miles."

These new reward seats add to the 20 million seats available to book across Qantas, Jetstar, and 30 partner airlines, including Emirates, American Airlines, and Cathay Pacific. The number of Classic Reward seats booked through partner airlines has doubled in the last five years.

Members can search for availability in seconds using the new search tool on qantas.com, launched in March, which lets Frequent Flyers browse millions of seats by destination and cabin type across a 12-month booking window.
