Community safety strengthened in the Scenic Rim thanks to QCS officers
Queensland Corrective Services officers continue to thwart major attempts to introduce contraband into correctional centres, recently seizing hundreds of prohibited items.
Recently, officers from Palen Creek Correctional Centre near Beaudesert located and intercepted a significant quantity of contraband.
More than 700 prohibited items, including mobile phones, chargers, Suboxone, USB drives and needles, among other contraband, were found hidden in a paddock.
Queensland Corrective Services Acting Commissioner Jon Peach thanked officers for their vigilance and reiterated the zero-tolerance for contraband entering correctional centres.
"QCS has zero tolerance for contraband and those who attempt to bring it into our correctional centres can expect to be dealt with to the full extent of the law," A/Commissioner Peach said.

"A range of measures are employed to intercept and seize contraband, including the vigilance and commitment of officers in their dynamic operational roles, to maintain the safety, security and good order of centres.
"On behalf of our community, I thank the officers involved in this contraband interception for their professionalism, diligence and unwavering commitment to community safety."
There are additional penalties for prisoners who attempt to bring contraband into correctional centres, including impact on parole applications.
