QS Ranking: largest increase in environmental sciences and animal sciences

The environmental sciences and animal sciences programmes of Wageningen University & Research (WUR) have risen in the latest edition of QS World University Rankings by Subject 2021. WUR retains its leading position in the category 'agriculture and forestry'.

Each year, two authoritative QS rankings are published. There is the general ranking, which is to appear later this year, and this ranking, which allows prospective students and their parents to assess which courses score highest. For this ranking, 1453 universities were evaluated in 51 categories ('Subjects').

Wageningen University & Research takes first place in the category 'agriculture and forestry', as it did in previous years. It climbed from the 8th to the 5th place in the category 'environmental sciences', and from the 19th to the 17th place in the category 'animal sciences'. WUR takes 59th place in the category 'bio-sciences and health'.

Geology and geophysics were included in the ranking for the first time this year. We achieved places 49 (third within the Netherlands) and 39 (second within the Netherlands), respectively.
