The Crisafulli Government is delivering for Queensland with initiatives to help small and family businesses and their staff build skills, strengthen resilience, create jobs and unlock new opportunities, in the 2026-27 Budget.
The $601.8 million Customer Services, Open Data, Small and Family Business Budget is strengthening the foundations for a fresh start by delivering better services through a stronger economy.
This is in stark contrast to Labor's approach to small and family business which saw rising energy costs, rising crime and a Federal Labor Budget filled with broken promises causing rising uncertainty.
The Crisafulli Government is backing small businesses with support and practical measures to grow, employ and thrive.
The Budget will deliver a new $10 million program to support small and family businesses to adopt AI solutions to thrive in an increasingly fast-paced and competitive world.
Funding will be available to eligible small and family businesses across Queensland in all sectors to assist with integrating AI solutions into their operations.
The Budget will also support new micro-credential courses for small business owners to upskill and build capability.
Targeted support will continue for construction small businesses as well as the ongoing delivery of safety and security measures under the Secure Communities Partnership Program.
The Small Business Support Network will continue to empower operators with financial counselling and wellbeing support, while the Small Business Apprenticeship Pilot Program, delivered in partnership with the Department of Trade, Employment and Training, is helping small businesses cover apprentice wages during offsite training, growing a pipeline of skilled workers for Queensland's future.
Regional business opportunities will be strengthened through the Regional Business Gateways program, with locally led solutions that build capability, strengthen local industries and drive regional economic development.
Grants of up to $600,000 are available to eligible councils, chambers of commerce, industry and not-for-profit groups.
The Budget continues to strengthen the foundations put in place under the Small and Family Business First Action Statement to reduce red tape, improve access to government services, help more small businesses grow and access government procurement.
Treasurer David Janetzki said the 2026-27 Budget was about delivering for Queensland with a better lifestyle through a stronger economy.
"We are delivering on our promises, with relief you can rely on through responsible decisions for now and the future, and no new or increased taxes," Treasurer Janetzki said.
"This Budget strengthens the foundations we've laid in making Queensland safer, restoring health services, delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, building generational infrastructure, getting the Games back on track, as well as playing our part to ease national cost of living pressures."
Minister for Customer Services and Open Data and Minister for Small and Family Business Steve Minnikin said the Crisafulli Government was backing Queensland small and family businesses with practical support to grow, employ and succeed.
"Small and family businesses are the engine room of Queensland's economy, and this Budget is about giving them the tools, support and confidence to keep moving forward," Minister Minnikin said.
"From micro-credentials and financial counselling to stronger regional networks and assisting with AI adoption, we are delivering practical initiatives that respond to the real needs of small business owners across the State.
"By reducing red tape, improving access to government services and helping more businesses connect with procurement opportunities, we are backing small and family businesses to grow and create jobs in communities right across Queensland."
