Queensland Border reopening a positive move for recovery

"Ai Group members welcome the announcement this morning of a reopening of the border between NSW and Queensland as many have been severely impacted by the restrictions particularly on the movement of their workforces and ability to conduct their businesses. We have been actively advocating at both a State and National level that border restrictions need to be eased," Rebecca Andrews, State-Head Queensland of the national employer association Ai Group said today.

"We also acknowledge the positive impact this will have on the retail, tourism and hospitality sectors which have been devastated by the ongoing border closures and restrictions on their operations. The easing of restrictions announced today for these sectors are a positive step for their recovery.

"As we enter the final four weeks before the election, Ai Group encourages all sides of politics to outline recovery plans to help business recover, create an environment for public and private investment, and further invest in the skills and training the workforce needs for the future," Ms Andrews said.
