The Crisafulli Government is delivering a bold new plan for the future of sport in Queensland, with more support for clubs, communities and aspiring athletes as the state builds towards the 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games and beyond.
Queensland Spirit: The Road to 2032 is the first stage of a plan to cement Queensland as the undeniable home of Australian sport, with funding to attract more major sporting events and organisations to the State.
The plan was developed following extensive feedback from Queenslanders, with nearly 2,000 survey responses, over 90 written submissions and more than 420 people attending community forums in Brisbane, Roma, Emerald, Cairns, Mackay, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Townsville and Toowoomba.
Queensland Spirit: The Road to 2032 includes four strategic priorities:
- Games On! - New investment in the Games On! Grassroots Infrastructure Program, new grants for clubs to provide equipment and training and ongoing disaster recovery support.
- The home of Australian sport - Funding to attract more sporting organisations and events to Queensland as well as record investment and funding certainty for sporting organisations under the new Sporting Partnerships Fund.
- Play On! - $200 Sports Vouchers to help more children experience the benefits of sport, with Play On! Learn to Swim providing vouchers of up to $150 for eligible children aged 0-4 and a new Grassroots to Gold program to deliver the biggest-ever boost to talent pathways.
- Beyond 2032 - Collaborating across the private, public and non-government sector to unlock access to more places and spaces for Queenslanders to get active, roll out new initiatives and programs to share the positive impact of sport and expanding Sport HQ to support volunteers.
The Crisafulli Government is delivering a Games for all of Queensland, with a lasting legacy beyond 2032 after 1200 days of Games chaos under Labor.
Minister for Sport and Racing and Minister for the Olympic and Paralympic Games Tim Mander said Queensland Spirit: The Road to 2032 would benefit Queenslanders for generations to come.
"We're entering a golden era of sport in Queensland and building a legacy of greater participation, improved accessibility, better infrastructure and stronger pathways," Minister Mander said.
"The Crisafulli Government is working to cement Queensland's place as the home of sport in Australia and ensure there is a lasting legacy beyond 2032.
"We're backing clubs with the facilities they need to grow and thrive, supporting families to get more kids into sport, and building a world-class sporting industry that will endure long after the Games."
