Question of immigration: Bernardi

Australian Conservatives Release

The thorny question of immigration has not really been properly addressed this election campaign and Labor's promise of uncapped visa for parents of existing migrants, has the potential to bankrupt Australia's welfare state.

Conservative Party policy on immigration is just common sense. Staring with a halving of immigration numbers and the remainder who are admitted should be in our economic, social and cultural interest, contribute to Australia and repay welfare through the tax system and to reform all classes of visas, the processes used to obtain them and tighten requirements for permanent residency and citizenship.

Conservative Party leader Cory Bernardi has told Steve Price on 3AW, 2GB and 4BC, Conservative Party policies are all based on common sense principle rather than reactionary populism.
