QYAC Names New CEO

Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC)

The Chair and Board of the Quandamooka Yoolooburrabee Aboriginal Corporation (QYAC) are delighted to announce the appointment of highly-experienced administrator Stephen Wright, as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Registered Native Title Body Corporation.

Mr Wright has extensive experience working across the NSW Government and the Land Rights Network, managing land claims and joint management programs; governance and compliance administration; project management and commercial transactions.

Prior to joining QYAC, Mr Wright served three periods as the Registrar of the Aboriginal Land Rights Act 1983 in NSW, the Chief Operating Officer of the Deerubbin Local Aboriginal Land Council (DLALC) and in various senior roles at the New South Wales (NSWALC), including Executive Director, Manager of the Land Claims and Property Services Unit and Change Manager of the Native Title Unit.

"I am excited to be joining QYAC and working with the Chair, the Board and all of our staff to drive our programs and activities to care for Country and continue protecting and promoting the rights and interests of the Quandamooka people," Mr Wright said today.

Chairperson Dr. Val Cooms welcomed Mr Wright to QYAC.

"We are delighted that Stephen has joined QYAC and are confident that his vast experience and knowledge of Aboriginal land rights lodgements and claims, public administration and project management will help drive QYAC's vision and strategic agenda," she said.

Mr Wright will commence his new role on 9 March, 2023.
