Ram raid at Gold Coast

Gold Coast police are investigating a ram raid of a jewellery store at Burleigh early this morning.

Around 3.30am, a red sedan smashed through the glass doors of a West Burleigh Road shopping centre.

The car then drove through the centre and smashed through the doors of the jewellery store.

Two people got out of the car and stole a significant amount of jewellery before leaving the shopping centre in a white sedan.

The red Mazda 2 was found abandoned in Wairoo Street just before 10am.

The group were seen breaking into cars on Tabilban Street around 2.30am and hit a parked Honda Jazz when a passer-by disrupted them.

The car was originally stolen from a Thornlands residence early yesterday morning, August 26.

Anyone with information or saw anything suspicious in the area at the time, is encouraged to contact police.

Investigations continue.
