Ramsgate Town Centre Revitalisation: Bayside

Bayside Council will investigate options to revitalise the Ramsgate Town Centre following a decision at the Council Meeting on Wednesday 24 April.

This investigation will look at the possibility of high-quality paving, modern street furniture, lighting, landscaping and trees across the Ramsgate Town Centre shopping precinct on Rocky Point Road from Clarkes Road to Park Road.

To expediate the process Council will re-visit the Ramsgate Commercial Centre Development Contributions Plan developed as a joint initiative between the former Rockdale City Council and Kogarah Council.

This plan included proposals for streetscape improvements to existing footpaths including new street furniture and plants, and improved lighting.

Council will prepare a detailed report outlining costing and design options for a future Council Meeting prior to the project being included in a future Capital Works Program.

Mayor Edward McDougall said:

"Delivering these works to help enhance the visual appeal and economic vitality of Ramsgate Town Centre for the benefit of residents, businesses and visitors," Mayor Edward McDougall said.
