RCAF Helicopters to Transit Between AB and ON/QC This Week

A formation of six Royal Canadian Air Force tactical helicopters will be transiting through western and central Canada between Monday, May 22 and Friday, May 26.

The formation will consist of four CH-146 Griffon helicopters and two CH-147 Chinook helicopters as they return from a major army training event, Exercise Maple Resolve, in Wainwright, Alberta. The Griffon helicopters are from 430 Tactical Helicopter Squadron based in Valcartier, Quebec and the Chinook helicopters are from 450 Tactical Helicopter Squadron based in Petawawa, Ontario.

People in eastern Alberta, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Sault Ste Marie, Toronto and Quebec City can expect to see the formation as it transits. In addition to these locations, the helicopters will be making fuel and crew rest stops at smaller airfields along the way.
