Readout: Minister of Foreign Affairs speaks with Iran's Minister of Foreign Affairs

The Honourable François-Philippe Champagne, Minister of Foreign Affairs, and Mohammad Javad Zarif, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran, held a phone call today.

On behalf of all those grieving and the International Coordination and Response Group for the victims of flight PS752, Minister Champagne reiterated the request for a thorough, credible and transparent investigation into the causes of this tragedy.

Minister Champagne stressed the need for Iran to arrange for the download and analysis of the flight's black boxes data to be conducted without delay, in accordance with Annex 13 to the Convention on International Civil Aviation. Minister Champagne stressed that the preferred option from the International Coordination Group is for Iran to make use of the facilities offered by France with the technical capacity to do this work and urged a quick resolution.

Minister Champagne also raised the importance of a swift compensation settlement for the families of the victims, based on international standards. Minister Champagne will engage his counterparts to ensure this process continues to move ahead.

Minister Champagne committed to continue to press Iran for closure, accountability, transparency and justice for the victims of Flight 752 and pursue dialogue with Iran to this end.
