A 32-year-old Loganholme man and 37-year-old Strathpine woman have been fined after being detected driving over double the speed limit in Brighton on 15 June.
Officers from Road Policing Task Force were conducting mobile patrols in North Brisbane District at around 9.10pm, when they observed a motorcycle on Hornibrook Highway, Brighton travelling at 173km/h – 90km/h over the signed 80km/h speed limit.
The pair each received a traffic infringement notice for exceed speed limit in speed zone by more than 40km/h and were fined $1,919.
Officer in Charge of Road Policing Task Force, Senior Sergeant Paul Kelly said any road user exceeding the speed limit should expect police.
"A moment of risky behaviour can lead to devastating consequences," Senior Sergeant Kelly said.
"Speeding has a direct consequence on your safety and those around you. Unsafe driving behaviours on our roads is not harmless fun, it carries real consequences that can affect a person financially, their ability to drive, and potentially their future."
