Record engagement in waste and recovery education

More than 5000 students have been engaged as part of Council's Waste Education Program since February.

Aiming to help Cairns schools and community groups reduce, reuse their waste and recycle right, the program provides presentation to students, teachers and community groups, free Waste and Resource Recovery facility tours (via the Rediscovery Centre), and free school recycling services.

In a record-breaking month, over 1,700 students took part in the program in October, while 420 students toured the Materials Recovery Facility.
