- Another record-setting year for RED Grants in the South West region
- Total of 91 applications received in Round 8 of the Cook Government program
- Cook Government committed to providing quality jobs and business opportunities for Western Australians
A Cook Government initiative that supports locally driven jobcreating projects in the South West has received a record number of applications in its latest funding round.
Round 8 of the Regional Economic Development (RED) Grants attracted 91 applications to the South West Development Commission before closing on 9 January 2026, surpassing the previous record set in Round 7.
The strong response highlights the continued demand for support among local businesses and organisations looking to grow, diversify, and invest in new opportunities.
Applications are now being assessed, with successful projects to be announced later this year.
Since the program began, 58 South West projects have secured more than $5 million in funding through the first seven rounds.
The Cook Government is investing more than $60 million over 11 years into RED Grants to stimulate economic growth and development across regional Western Australia.
The program backs initiatives that create jobs, boost productivity, build capability, diversify industry, and attract new investment - delivering longterm economic and community benefits across the region.
As stated by South West Minister Don Punch:
"The record number of applications in Round 8 highlights the ongoing success of the RED Grants program in driving economic growth across the South West. Local businesses are clearly embracing the opportunity to expand, innovate, and create jobs.
"From Walpole to Margaret River, Busselton, Bunbury, Capel, Harvey, and beyond, RED Grants are delivering real economic benefits, strengthening industries, supporting new investment, and creating jobs that flow through to local communities."
As stated by Regional Development Minister Stephen Dawson:
"The Cook Government is committed to diversifying regional economies and creating quality jobs and the RED Grants program is a great example of that.
"The RED Grants program backs initiatives that build capability, boost productivity, and drive long term employment opportunities across regional WA."
