Rector Jari Niemelä on sick leave until 17 November 2021

Sari Lindblom will act as rector for the duration of his absence.

Rector Jari Niemelä of the University of Helsinki will be on sick leave until 17 November 2021 due to his long-term illness and related treatment. In accordance with the distribution of duties decided by the Board of the University, Sari Lindblom will act as rector for the duration of his absence. Paula Eerola will deputise for the rector for the same period, while Sari Lindblom's duties as vice-rector will be divided between the vice-rectors as follows: academic affairs will be the responsibility of Hanna Snellman, digitalisation and library affairs will be the responsibility of Paula Eerola, and the overall responsibility for public engagement will move from Hanna Snellman to Tom Böhling.
