Recycled Compost Helping Local Community Organisations

MOCSIS

Joy, Dianne and Dean are a few of our valued community volunteers at Monash-Oakleigh Community Support and Information Service (MOCSIS), located at one of our local community facilities.

The team are part of an incredible group of volunteers who donate their time to help Monash families in need.

Council recently donated a batch of recycled compost to assist with their onsite community garden, where they are busy growing delicious fresh produce.

MOCSIS is just one of several organisations, parks, gardens and reserves across Monash to benefit from the use of Council recycled compost.

Recycled compost not only helps to improve soil nutrient quality, drainage and temperature; it builds a healthy environment for microbes to thrive and removes toxic weeds and contaminants, so it can be returned to nurture healthier trees and plants.

The use of recycled compost is made possible thanks to the positive recycling habits of our residents.

By simply ensuring only food scraps and garden clippings are placed into our green bins, we can all help to build more circular practices and a more sustainable Monash.
