We know how important the environment and living sustainably are to our residents.
That's why we are working hard to reduce our carbon footprint and grow our circular economy practices to create a more sustainable Monash.
Did you know the food and garden clippings you put into your green bin are turned into recycled compost?
Using recycled compost not only improves soil nutrient quality, drainage and temperature; it builds a healthy environment for microbes to thrive.
Now, thanks to a Sustainability Victoria Councils Organics Fund grant, this recycled compost is being used across Council gardens, parks and reserves to return high nutrient material back to soil.
The use of Council's recycled compost is made possible thanks to the food and garden clippings residents place into their green bins.
By simply ensuring only food scraps and garden clippings are placed into our resident green bins, we can all help to generate recycled compost and a more sustainable Monash.
