Regional Events Forum Helps Strengthen Local Events

During the week Horsham Rural City Council, in partnership with Hindmarsh, West Wimmera and Yarriambiack Shire Councils, hosted a Regional Events Forum for local event organisers. The forum provided valuable insights into current event trends, funding opportunities, succession planning and innovative ideas to help strengthen and grow community events.

Events play a vital role in enhancing community liveability while also supporting local tourism and strengthening regional economies. Visitors attending events contribute to local businesses by spending on accommodation, dining, shopping and other services, creating lasting benefits for the wider community.

The Forum's program was presented by the Australia Centre for Regional Events, who delivered an engaging and inspiring series of sessions focused on innovation, emerging trends, event revitalisation, succession planning and practical strategies to enhance the sustainability and long-term success of regional events. Local event organisers were encouraged to think creatively while equipping them with valuable tools and ideas to support their volunteer committees and future event planning.

30 event organisers and representatives from across the region attended the informative forum, taking the opportunity to network, exchange ideas and gain practical knowledge to support the continued success and longevity of local events.
