Remembering Our ANZACs In 2024

  • City of Perth supporting RSLWA with ANZAC Day commemorations across city
  • Major annual events, including Dawn Service and March, returning in 2024
  • Free parking at City of Perth parking bays all day

The City of Perth is proud to support RSLWA as we pause to reflect on the sacrifices made by our service men and women this ANZAC Day.

This year, the City will again play host to most of the major annual commemorations including the Dawn Service, Gunfire Breakfast and ANZAC Day March.

After the March, the inaugural ANZAC Day Family and Mateship Event will be held at Langley Park.

Lord Mayor Basil Zempilas said the event would be an opportunity to catch up with family and friends after the morning's reflective commemorations.

"We're honoured to be supporting RSLWA and its inaugural Family and Mateship Event," Mr Zempilas said.

"Entry to the event is free and will make for an engaging and interactive way to explain our country's history to our little ones, with military vehicles and commemorative activities for all ages."

After a successful trial last year, the All-Abilities Sunset Service is returning in 2024.

"The inclusive All-Abilities Sunset Service is designed for those who find the traditional Dawn Service a challenge to attend, and will include audio description, wheelchair access, ACROD parking, AUSLAN and quiet space facilities.

"This year we're also welcoming back the Ngarla Maumahara Indigenous ANZAC Service as part of the Lotterywest Boorloo Heritage Festival, presented by the City of Perth.

"And then there's the grounds of Government House which have been transformed by more than 40,000 knitted poppies, knitted by hand by the RSLWA Poppy Ladies.

"It really is a magnificent sight, and I recommend everyone to come and view the display."

Free parking will be available all day in City of Perth parking bays across the city.

The City of Perth Library and the Citiplace Community Centre will be closed on ANZAC Day and there will be road closures in place to support the Dawn Service and ANZAC Day March.
