Communities across Horsham and the Wimmera will gather in solemn reflection at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month to honour the courage, sacrifice and service of the men and women of Australia's armed forces, past and present.
Remembrance Day is the anniversary of the Armistice of 1918 that ended fighting in World War I. The war didn't officially end until 28 June 1919 with the Treaty of Versailles. People in Australia and many other countries observe one minute's silence at 11am because that's when the Armistice came into effect.
More than 103,000 names are listed on the Roll of Honour at the Australian War Memorial, recognising those personnel who died during their service or afterwards as a result of war service.
The Horsham community will come together at 10.15am at the Sawyer Park Cenotaph and War Memorial, ahead of the official ceremony commencing at 10.45am.
The gathering will stand shortly before 11am for the Ode, which will be followed by The Last Post, one minute of silence and The Rouse.
After the service, Horsham RSL is hosting a Remembrance Day lunch. Those interested should book in advance by calling 5382 5222.
The 128th Transport Troop will also host an open day at their depot on Baillie Street from 12pm to 4pm, featuring demonstrations, displays, and food vendors.
If you can't attend an event on Remembrance Day, simply pause at 11am, wherever you are, to remember – and wear your poppy with pride.
Poppies are on sale now from Horsham RSL in McLachlan Street.
Poppy sellers will be in Horsham Plaza, outside the Post Office and elsewhere in the CBD.
The Ode
They shall grow not old as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
Lest we forget.
