Reminder to drivers about school speed zones

Children have returned to school for the year and Swan Hill Rural City Council is reminding drivers to drive safely within school zones.

Robinvale Authorised Officer, Emma Wright said it is an important time to remind drivers to take extra care.

"There are two school crossings located in Robinvale one on George Street and one on Watkins Street - they both have a dedicated crossing supervisor.

"School crossing supervisors do a wonderful job in helping ensure students and drivers are aware of school zones and help students cross the road safely while coming to and from school," she said.

Ms Wright said 40-kilometre speed limits are there to help keep everybody safe during these busy peak times.

"School zones are extra busy during drop-off and pick-up times, with cars, school buses and students walking or cycling to and from school," she said.

"Speed limits and school zones are in place to help keep children safe," she added.

Ms Wright said for everyone's safety, it is crucial that drivers are aware of school crossing supervisors and follow all directions."
