Climate Council
In response to the latest report from Australian Energy Regulator (AER) on the electricity market, Climate Council CEO Amanda McKenzie said:
"The evidence just keeps stacking up that solar and wind, backed by batteries, is driving power prices down.
"It's economics at work: put more of the lowest cost electricity into the system and you drive power prices down.
"This underscores exactly why we need to crack on with the rollout of renewables to replace the ageing coal clunkers that keep breaking down, and causing price spikes. Slowing down means higher bills, and more harmful climate pollution.
"This is just the latest proof point that we need to get on with it."
