Renewed appeal after Hampton Park hit-run in January

Major Collision Investigation Unit detectives are renewing their appeal for public assistance following a fatal hit-run collision in Hampton Park in January.

Sole Manapori was riding along Hallam Road when he was struck by a vehicle believed to be a red Holden Cruze sedan about 4.15am on Thursday, 6 January.

It is believed the Holden went through a red light before striking the cyclist who was crossing at the pedestrian crossing.

The driver of the car failed to stop and left 58-year-old, a beloved uncle, on the road to die.

The vehicle suspected of being involved was located burnt out on Maylands Drive in Glen Waverley shortly before 5am that morning.

It is believed the car was stolen from a residential address in Tram Road Doncaster on or about the 5th of January 2022.

Detectives believe someone will have information that can provide answers for his family.

A 29-year-old Endeavour Hills man was spoken to in relation to the death on 7 January and was released without charge.
