REIWA
The WA Government is extending its rent relief program, which provides cost of living relief and housing support to WA tenants facing hardship.
It commenced in December 2023 and was due to end in June 2025. It has been extended by six months to 31 December 2025.
The WA Rent Relief Program is administered by Anglicare WA and Vinnies WA and provides one-off payments of up to $5,000 to help at-risk tenants pay rental arrears and meet future costs while achieving long-term housing stability.
To qualify for support tenants must be behind in rent, struggling to meet daily expenses and have less than $3,000 in the bank.
So far, the program has provided more than $11 million in rent relief to over 2,700 vulnerable households.
As well as financial support, the program also offers additional services like financial counselling and housing support, connected tenants with community resources and strengthened landlord-tenant relationships
