The Crisafulli Government is delivering for Queensland and accelerating the landmark $2 billion Residential Activation Fund to help build a place to call home for more Queenslanders, sooner.
The 2025-26 Budget fast-tracks funding for the new Residential Activation Fund in response to overwhelming interest in the program.
The first round of the Residential Activation Fund has been doubled from $500,000,000 to $1 billion, kick-starting more shovel-ready projects to get homes out of the ground sooner.
The Fund is designed to break down barriers for infill and greenfield developments. The fund supports the delivery of one million new Queensland homes by 2044, with 50 per cent of the overall funding to be invested in regional areas.
Round one prioritises shovel-ready projects focusing on the construction of critical trunk infrastructure such as water supply, sewerage, stormwater, and roads needed to unlock new residential developments.
The program has received 178 submissions – 64 from South East Queensland and 114 from regional, rural and remote Queensland.
Premier David Crisafulli said the Residential Activation Fund was designed to get more homes out of the ground sooner, easing Labor's Housing Crisis.
"Queenslanders need a place to call home, and this Government is unlocking the land and delivering the infrastructure to make that happen," Premier Crisafulli said.
"The Residential Activation Fund is a cornerstone of our plan to secure our housing foundations and by fast-tracking the funding we will be delivering more homes, sooner.
"This shows the power of good infrastructure, ensuring Queensland families can access homes no matter where they live."
Deputy Premier and Minister for State Development, Infrastructure, and Planning, Jarrod Bleijie said the Residential Activation fund removed the barriers to building, unlocking land for housing faster.
"Local Government and the housing sector are knocking down the doors to get building – and that means a place to call home for more Queenslanders," Deputy Premier Bleijie said.
"With up to $1 billion allocated in this first round, the focus is on shovel-ready projects that will unlock housing developments and create jobs.
"The Residential Activation Fund is transforming the housing landscape by overcoming the challenges which have previously blocked housing starts.
"This is a competitive process, and Government is focused on getting the best projects up and running so more Queenslanders will have new homes sooner.
"That's why we've boosted Round one to get up to $1 billion out and supporting these projects now."
