Restorations Complete At Ardmona Primary School

  • Minister for Education

Ardmona students now have better classrooms and school facilities thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.

Minister for Education James Merlino and Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp today visited Ardmona Primary School to open its $593,000 upgrade, which includes significant restoration work to the school's historic 1880s buildings.

Several classrooms underwent structural restoration and modernisation including a complete replacement of the entire roof structure, along with new floor finishes, doors to the flexible classroom, as well as wall and ceiling linings.

Damaged weatherboards were also replaced and a fresh coat of paint has brightened both indoor and external spaces.

The school opened in 1881 and offers specialist education programs including performing arts as well as cultural studies in First Nations Curriculum to its 18 students.

The Labor Government has invested $5.6 billion to deliver more than 1,400 school upgrades, supporting over 7500 construction jobs for Victorians.

The Labor Government is building the Education State so that every student can access a great local school and a quality education.

As noted by Education Minister James Merlino

"This exciting upgrade of Ardmona's historic primary school is yet another example of the school building boom happening right across Victoria."

"We're ensuring local students have the best facilities, our classrooms have the best teachers and every child is given every chance to succeed."

As stated by Member for Northern Victoria Mark Gepp

"This important restoration gives students and teachers a fresh and comfortable environment in which to learn and play."
