Restoring Historic Chapman Memorial Gates

The City of Canada Bay is restoring and repainting the memorial gates at the entrance to the Pavilion of Honour in Queen Elizabeth Park, Concord.

Installed in 1918, the gates commemorate Alderman William Keep Chapman, who served the community for 34 years as an alderman on Concord Municipal Council from 1883 to 1917.

Council is currently restoring the gates to preserve this important piece of Concord's history. Works are expected to be

complete by the end of August 2026.

This project is funded by the City of Canada Bay and the Australian Government under the Saluting Their Service Commemorations Grant.
