The McGowan Government is continuing to bring back public transport services that were reduced due to the coronavirus pandemic.
From Wednesday April 29, bus services will resume their normal timetabling - this includes all school services.
Trains will continue in the current pattern - an enhanced Saturday timetable, with additional peak period services and earlier services on most lines on weekdays - until going back to normal operations on Monday May 4.
The decision to return to regular timetables will ensure students going back to school have options available for their travel.
Two of the COVID-19 changes will remain in place - train station parking remains free and late-night weekend trains are still cancelled. The ferry will also remain on a winter timetable.
In regional Western Australia, regional school bus services will also be available from the start of term two, from April 29.
Passengers should continue to follow recommended hygiene practices while the PTA will also continue with its enhanced cleaning regime, ensuring all vehicles are sanitised thoroughly each night. Additional cleaners are also being deployed at various stations, tasked with cleaning trains and touch points between services.
As stated by Transport Minister Rita Saffioti:
"With students returning to school from April 29, we will see an increase in transport activity across our community.
"While initially we prepared a staged and scaled return to normal services, it is now our view to have services running to a normal schedule as soon as possible.
"In particular, feedback from parents, and from schools directly, has been that we bring the school services back from the first day.
"Working with the contractors, unions and the PTA, we are now bringing forward the return of normal public transport services.
"This will see the full bus program running from April 29, while full train services will return to normal on May 4."
