Return to full commemorative services for Anzac Day 2022

NSW Government

Anzac Day services will return to normal across NSW for the first time in three years with veterans honoured at full-scale dawn services and marches on 25 April.

Major events such as the traditional Dawn Service at Martin Place and march through the Sydney CBD will again take place, and as a special one-off, clubs and pubs in NSW can hold games of two-up across all three days of the Anzac Day long weekend from 23 to 25 April.

Minister for Transport and Veterans David Elliott said Anzac Day this year would be a moving and significant occasion for many veterans who missed out on marching or attending a reunion over the last few years due to COVID restrictions.

"This year not only marks the first year since the Australian Defence Force's withdrawal from Afghanistan, but it is also the first time since 2019 that veterans will be able to reconnect with mates to attend their annual reunions free of restrictions," Mr Elliott said.

Public transport will be free for all veterans, families, and individuals attending Anzac Day reunions, marches and commemorative events across the Sydney, Blue Mountains, Central Coast, Hunter, and Illawarra areas.
