Review Of Triple Zero Laws Commences

Dept of Infrastructure, Transport, Regional Development and Communications

An Australian Government review of Triple Zero laws is now underway, to help ensure Australia's critical emergency management system is reliable and resilient.

The review is being led by the Triple Zero Custodian within the department to examine all legislation and regulations relating to Triple Zero.

It will identify areas in need of further legislative or regulatory reform, including opportunities to improve:

  • public access to Triple Zero
  • industry's delivery of, and access to, Triple Zero
  • the legislative framework's impact on emergency services
  • government oversight of Triple Zero.

The Triple Zero Custodian will deliver a final report to the government with recommendations for a modernised and adaptable Triple Zero service framework.
