A reward of up to $1 million has been posted for information into the disappearance of four-year-old Gus Lamont.
The reward will be paid for information leading to the conviction of the person or persons responsible for the disappearance of Gus Lamont and/or the recovery of his remains.
The disappearance of Gus Lamont from Oak Park Station on 27 September 2025 was declared a major crime in February 2026.
The search for Gus has been the largest and one of the most intensive undertaken by South Australia Police in connection with a missing person with 11 individual ground searches conducted over 30 days, along with aerial searches involving Polair, drones and aircraft fitted with specialised camera equipment.
Task Force Horizon detectives believe it is unlikely that Gus wandered off from the Oak Park homestead or was abducted by an unknown person, and neither scenario is supported by evidence despite exhaustive investigations. A focus of investigations remains on a person known to Gus being involved in his disappearance and suspected death.
Major Crime Investigation Branch Officer in Charge Detective Superintendent Darren Fielke said issuing the reward was a significant step in the investigation.
"I would urge anyone with information that may help locate Gus or assist in the investigation into what happened to him to come forward,'' he said.
"$1 million is a life changing amount of money for anyone who can assist in this investigation.
"Rewards such as this have been successful in assisting police in major investigations.''
In announcing the reward today, Premier Peter Malinauskas said the disappearance of Gus Lamont has deeply shocked and saddened all South Australians.
"I cannot imagine the anguish that Gus's parents Jess and Josh are going through, and my thoughts remain with them,'' Mr Malinauskas said.
"The State Government is doing everything it can to support the police investigation. That's why we are offering a $1 million reward to help solve this case.
"Someone must know something and I urge anyone with information to come forward.''
Police Minister Michael Brown said South Australian's have been hoping for answers in the heartbreaking disappearance of Gus for the past year.
"Despite the extraordinary effort of South Australia Police including conducting their largest search operation ever undertaken in connection with a missing person, no trace of Gus has been found,'' Mr Brown said.
"My heart goes out to Gus' parents Jess and Josh and I hope this will help them get the answers they so desperately deserve.''
