On Friday 3 May Allan will set off with 180 other riders and support crew on a nine-day, 1400 kilometre bike ride from Sydney to Geelong, via the Snowy Mountains and North East Victoria, to raise funds and awareness to find a cure for cancer.

This year will be Allan's third tour, and this time it's also very personal, with Allan's Dad having recently been diagnosed.

Allan's goal is to raise $12,000 to go towards the research, support and education programs that Tour de Cure funds.

ACO South East Region Trevor Owen said Allan is appreciative of anyone who is able to support him and the Tour, and the ultimate goal of finding a cure for cancer.

"This Sydney to Geelong Tour will take an incredible amount of stamina and endurance to complete, and I commend Allan for his commitment and dedication to this important cause," Trevor said.

If you are interested in supporting the cause via a donation to assist Allan to meet his fundraising goal, head to www.tourdecure.com.au and search 'Allan Rankin' under the Member search option. All donations over $2.00 are fully Tax Deductible.
