Ride-share driver charged with indecent assault of passenger in Camden

A ride-share driver has been charged over the alleged indecent assault of a woman in Sydney’s south west yesterday, NSW Police say.

The 23-year-old woman was collected by a Hyundai I20, operating as a ride-share vehicle, from a home at Ambarvale about 5.15am (Sunday 9 September 2018).

The woman had organised to be taken to a home in Camden.

During the journey it’s alleged the woman was indecently assaulted by the driver.

When she tried to leave the vehicle, it’s further alleged the man grabbed her arm and attempted to stop her.

She managed to flee and run to a nearby home where police were alerted.

Officers from Camden Police Area Command commenced an investigation.

About 12.40pm yesterday, police stopped a car on Queen Street, Campbelltown and arrested a 52-year-old man.

The man, from Ambarvale, was taken to Narellan Police Station where he was charged with two counts of assault with act of indecency.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Picton Local Court on Tuesday 25 September 2018.
