  • Sport infrastructure works at Ridgewood Park have finished
  • Project delivers on Cook Labor Government commitment
  • Upgrades made to electronic scoreboard, kiosk and cricket nets
  • New facilities will help club generate more revenue and support more participation

Upgrades to the City of Wanneroo's Ridgewood Park have now been completed, delivering on the Cook Labor Government's commitment to ensure the well-used community sporting precinct is fit for purpose.

Supported by a $120,000 State Government contribution, the project has delivered several improvements including the installation of an electronic scoreboard, upgrades to the kitchen and kiosk, and new cricket training nets.

The scoreboard and kiosk works were completed in 2023, with the final element - the installation of the cricket nets - now completed.

The opening of the new training net marks the final stage of the project and will help the local cricket club increase participation for the coming 2025-26 season and beyond.

The upgrades will benefit local clubs, boost training capacity and improve the match-day experience for players, volunteers and spectators.

The WA Government recently announced its PlayOn WA initiative, a bold new program to guide investment in community sport and recreation infrastructure across the State through to 2030.

The program aims to deliver 2030 community sport and recreation infrastructure items across WA by the year 2030, helping to deliver a lasting and positive impact across WA communities.

As stated by Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti:

"The WA Government is proud to deliver on its commitment to support local sports infrastructure, making it easier for clubs and communities to thrive.

"These upgrades ensure Ridgewood Park continues to be a high-quality and welcoming venue for both competition and community use, and the local clubs can continue to grow participation.

"Whether it's scoring a match, training in new nets or enjoying the upgraded kiosk, this investment is about supporting grassroots sport from the ground up."

As stated by Mindarie MLA Mark Folkard:

"Ridgewood Park is much-loved asset in our community, and these upgrades will make it an even better space for everyone to enjoy.

"Our government wants to see more people participating in community sport because it's a fantastic way for people to remain connected.

"These facility upgrades will ensure our local sporting clubs are able to support more participation from people across our community."
