Rochester will come alive with colour, creativity and community spirit this March as Campaspe Shire Council presents a week of artistic activity as part of Ripple Fest in partnership with Rochester Mural Festival.
From 25-28 March, locals and visitors are invited to take part in a series of creative workshops and a vibrant skate park activation that celebrates art, music and community connection.
Creative workshops will take place at Rochester Shire Hall from Wednesday 25 March to Friday 27 March, led by artists Sonya Else and Ellen Lee. Inspired by the theme The Power of Small Moments, the hands-on sessions will invite participants to explore drawing, craft and collaborative making. The artworks created during the workshops will form part of a special installation at Rochester Skate Park.
The week of creativity will culminate on Saturday 28 March with a lively Skate Park Activation featuring live graffiti, music and community participation. The event will be led by graffiti artist Retayner and local artist Matt McMillan, with music from DJ Coby and Jam in the Van.
Community members are encouraged to drop in, watch the wall transform, and experience the creative energy of the festival.
Campaspe Shire Mayor Cr Daniel Mackrell said the activations highlighted the role creativity played in bringing communities together.
"Events like this provide opportunities for people to connect, express themselves and experience the power of art in shared public spaces. Ripple Fest and the Rochester Mural Festival are fantastic examples of how creativity can bring our community together and celebrate local talent."
The creative workshops are open to all ages and skill levels, with no experience required. The program forms part of the broader Rochester Mural Festival running from 21-28 March, which includes murals, music, workshops and community events across the town.
Residents and visitors are encouraged to come along for a session or enjoy the full week of activities.
