Riverina Man Faces 11 Charges, Including Firearm Violations

A man has been charged with 11 offences after vehicles were allegedly stolen in the state's south.

Between 2.30am and 5am on Sunday 8 March 2026, a number of cars were allegedly stolen from a unit in Glenroy. Police will allege the cars were used in a number of offences including a fail-to-pay at a service station in Gumly Gumly on Sunday 8 March 2026, and an armed robbery at a licenced venue in Bolger Avenue, Mount Austin, about 11pm on Sunday 8 March 2026.

One of the stolen cars was seized at the corner of Townsend Place and Jack Avenue, Mount Austin, and a shotgun and a 3D-printed pistol found inside.

Following extensive inquiries, about 4pm Monday (16 March 2026), police attached to Riverina Police District with assistance from the Region Enforcement Squad attended a home in Heydon Avenue, Turvey Park.

A 28-year-old man was arrested and taken to Wagga Wagga Police Station.

An outstanding warrant was executed and he was charged with 11 offences,

- Be carried in conveyance taken without consent of owner

- Dishonestly obtain property by deception

- Take and drive conveyance without consent of owner

- Police pursuit – not stop – drive recklessly

- Robbery while armed with dangerous weapon

- Armed within intent to commit indictable offence

- Stalk/intimidate intend fear physical etc harm (personal)

- Possess unregistered firearm

- Acquire etc firearm – subject to prohibition order

- Contravene prohibition/restriction in AVO (Domestic)

- Possess prohibited drug.

He was refused bail and appeared in Bail Division Court 5 on Tuesday (17 March 2026), where he was formally refused bail to appear in Wagga Wagga Local Court on Wednesday 1 April 2026.
