Riverton Evade Police in Arrests, WA

Around 5pm yesterday afternoon, Sunday 11 March 2018, a black Ford Mustang was seen by Police Air wing travelling northbound on the Kwinana Freeway near Farrington Road Leeming. The vehicle was believed to have been stolen from a Lakelands address overnight and used in the commission of a stealing incident in Atwell around an hour prior.

The vehicle was seen to travel into the Riverton area and was seen to be driven erratically. Several police vehicles attended the area and a tyre deflation device was used unsuccessfully on High Road in an attempt to stop the vehicle. The vehicle continued to travel through various streets in Riverton whilst Police Air wing monitored overhead. A second attempt with a tyre deflation device was used, this time being effective which resulted in the vehicle stopping in Tudor Avenue Riverton and the two male occupants ran off. The driver was seen to run into a nearby premises before walking out and being arrested by police, WA Police say.

The passenger was locating nearby, hiding inside the yard of another property and was arrested without further incident.

A 44 year old man from Yunderup (the driver):

•Steal Motor Vehicle

•Burglary and Commit

•2 x Stealing

•2 x Trespass

•Reckless driving to Escape Pursuit by Police

An 18 year old man from Pingelly (the passenger) has been charged with the following offences:

•Steal Motor Vehicle

•Stealing

•Trespass

Both men are due to appear in Perth Magistrates Court today, Monday 12 March 2018.
