Riverway Lagoons reopen to public

Townsville's premier swimming destination, Riverway Lagoons, is now open.

The decision comes after the Queensland Government's newest announcement on COVID-19 restrictions easing.

Sport and Recreation Committee chairperson, Councillor Maurie Soars, said Council was pleased to be reopening the Riverway Lagoons to the public.

"In line with the Queensland Government's announcement, Council has reopened Riverway Lagoons," Cr Soars said.

"A 20-person limit in each pool will apply – as required by the State – which should be manageable during winter. Our lifeguards will be monitoring this and reporting back to Council.

"We're really asking the community to keep this in mind and do the right thing so we can keep Riverway open."
