RMIT Consolidates Strong Performance In Global Rankings

RMIT

RMIT has ranked equal 14th among Australian universities in the latest Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings. Globally, it ranks in the top 251-300 out of over 2,100 universities.

This result consolidates RMIT's strong performance from last year, with both its Australian and global rankings remaining steady. Over the past seven years, RMIT has risen 11 places among Australian universities and moved up from the 401-500th global band.

RMIT has achieved a ranking of 75th globally and 7th in Australia in the international outlook category (proportion of international staff and students, and degree of international research collaboration). This ranking reflects RMIT's long-standing commitment to international education, including RMIT Vietnam (now in its 25th year) and its partnerships across Asia Pacific and Europe.

RMIT has also broken into the top 10 in Australia in the teaching category, underscoring its focus on providing high-quality, applied education with global relevance.

The University's industry score is strong, especially in patents. This highlights RMIT's ability to translate research and academic insights into real-world applications, products, and services.

Distinguished Professor Calum Drummond AO, Deputy Vice-Chancellor Research and Innovation, said RMIT's research reputation continues to grow stronger.

"RMIT's collective efforts to lift the volume, quality, relevance, and translation of our research are having a positive impact on our global rankings," Professor Drummond said.

"It is encouraging to see our reputation for high-quality research on key issues of global importance continue to grow."

Earlier this year, RMIT retained its standing among the world's top 125 universities in the QS World University Rankings. It has climbed nearly 100 places in the past five years, similar to its rise in THE rankings.
